Greensand Ridge Distillery was founded to create exceptional spirits while leaving a lighter footprint on the world. Powered by renewable energy and using surplus fruit sourced from local farms, the distillery challenged many of the conventions of traditional spirit production.
As the business prepared to launch its first range, we were asked to create a brand and packaging system that reflected its commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability without relying on familiar environmental clichés. The identity needed to feel as premium as the spirits themselves while remaining unmistakably rooted in the landscape that inspired the distillery.
The heartbeat
Sometimes the strongest ideas are already outside the window. Standing inside the Victorian coach house where the spirits are distilled, a single view frames the Greensand Ridge beyond. That landscape became the starting point for the entire identity.
The bottle label echoes the shape of the coach house archway, while a geometric interpretation of the ridgeline creates a distinctive graphic that flows across the range. Rather than relying on illustrations of fruit or countryside, the identity captures a sense of place through simple forms, restrained typography and a flexible system that allows every spirit to feel connected while retaining its own character.
The result is packaging that feels quietly confident, allowing the story of sustainability to be discovered through the product rather than announced on the label.
The impact
The identity established Greensand Ridge as a distinctive premium spirits brand from launch, providing a cohesive packaging system that has expanded across London Dry Gin, Barrel Aged Gin, Wealden Rum, Plum Brandy and subsequent releases.
More importantly, the brand gave the business a visual identity as considered as its production process. It reflects a distillery that draws inspiration from its surroundings, works in partnership with local growers and proves that sustainability and premium craftsmanship can comfortably share the same bottle.
